Stack Mould

What is stack mould?

A stack mould is an advanced injection mould that increases production output without needing a larger, higher-tonnage machine. It does this by having two or more moulding surfaces, or “parting lines,” stacked one behind the other, allowing it to produce multiple parts in the same time and floor space as a standard mould.

Stack Mould vs. Traditional Mould
The main difference between a stack mould and a conventional mould lies in how they increase output

Feature

Traditional Mould

Stack Mould

Principle

Output is increased by adding more cavities side-by-side, which requires a larger mould and a machine with greater clamping force.

Output is increased by adding more mould levels vertically, which utilizes the existing machine’s space more efficiently.

Clamping force

The required clamping force increases proportionally with the projected area of the moulded parts.

The clamping force is similar to a standard mould because the cavities are arranged “back-to-back,” balancing the pressure.

Production Efficiency

Doubling output typically requires a second injection moulding machine.

Can double  output within the same machine.
